Comprehensive digital monitoring

Beyond the dots on the map

Every dot is a detention facility, and every figure leaves its mark on the lives of detained men and women. Pick a facility on the map, or search by its name or by governorate.

Section 02 · Capacity pressure

Capacity pressure spreads behind the numbers

This is not a percentage on a screen. It is the space that has vanished between body and wall inside the facilities for which figures are available.

26,053Total capacity
25,304Recorded number of detainees
17 detention facilities with a declared occupancy rate above 100%

Harsh conditions of detention

Exceeding capacity degrades the basic health and sanitation services available to detainees.

Sharp regional disparities

Some large prisons record occupancy rates above 500%, while smaller facilities lack modernisation.

Section 03 · Highest occupancy rates

When the numbers outgrow the space

The most overcrowded detention facilities under the lens, ranked by declared occupancy rate.

Section 04 · Accounts of violations

What do the documented cases tell us?

Violations classified and distributed by the rights affected.

Methodology and data sources

The platform compiles data on detention facilities, violations and related events from an editorial working file. Each record keeps a link to its source and the values exactly as reported there, and every figure is shown with its reference. Map coordinates are approximate, and the absence of a case from the database does not mean that no violation occurred. Data last updated: 2026-07-27.
